MUSIC

  • Heart-Centered Instruction

Our music program is built on a foundation of kindness, creativity, and personal development. Our instructors are more than musicians — they are mentors who care deeply about nurturing each student’s confidence, curiosity, and character. We aim to develop not only strong musicianship but also strong individuals.

  • Private Lesson Focus

Private lessons are tailored to meet each student's unique needs and goals. Whether a student is a beginner or advancing in their instrument, our one-on-one instruction provides space for focused growth, personalized feedback, and meaningful musical progress.

  • Small Group Environments

For students in group music classes, we keep class sizes small to ensure each learner receives the attention they need. A close-knit setting encourages participation, peer connection, and a stronger sense of belonging within our musical community.

  • Performance Opportunities

Students have multiple chances throughout the year to share their progress through in-studio showcases and community events. These performances build confidence, strengthen stage presence, and celebrate each student’s unique journey, no matter their level or instrument.

  • No chewing gum or eating snacks during lessons or classes.

  • Water bottles with clearly labeled names are allowed. Please avoid sugary drinks such as soda or sports drinks.

GRACE PERIOD & DROP POLICY

Each student receives a 4-week Grace Period starting from their first class. During this time, the student may withdraw from the season without penalty.

If a student withdraws after the 4-week grace period (starting the 5th week), a Drop Policy Fee equal to one month’s tuition will be charged. The student will not be permitted to return to class until this fee is resolved.

Exemptions to the drop policy include verified family emergencies, illness, hospitalization, injury, or death in the family.

Absence Notification & Missed Lessons

  • We require at least 24-hour notice if a student will be absent from their scheduled private lesson.

  • This policy allows instructors to plan effectively and utilize studio time efficiently.

  • If less than 24-hour notice is given, the student will be charged for the missed lesson.

  • Exemptions to this may include verified family emergencies, illness, hospitalization, injury, or death in the family. Approval must be given from both instructor and The Lex Center admin.

PARENT WATCH NIGHT & PERFORMING PARENT WEEK

For safety and to maintain a focused learning environment, regular classes and lessons are closed to visitors.

  • Parent Watch Night: One parent/guardian may observe the final 10 minutes of class.

  • Performing Parent Week: One parent/guardian may join their student in class for an interactive experience.

WEATHER CLOSURES

We typically follow Big Walnut Local School District for inclement weather closures. If school is closed or dismissed early due to snow, ice, or extreme cold, The Lex Center will likely also be closed.

In cases of fog or early morning weather that clears by evening, the studio may still open. Please check our website, social media, or call the studio before traveling during questionable weather.

MAKE-UP CLASSES

Students are expected to attend all scheduled classes unless the studio is closed for a holiday or weather-related issue.

If a student will be absent or late, notify the studio by phone or email at least 24 hours in advance.

No tuition credit or prorated refund is given for missed classes. Make-up class options may be provided on a case-by-case basis.

SANITATION & LIMITING THE SPREAD OF SICKNESS

  • Only one parent/guardian is allowed inside during drop-off or pick-up.

  • Parents of children under age 5 may wait in the lobby.

  • Medical-grade disinfectants are used to sanitize high-touch areas: doors, barres, instruments, etc.

  • Sanitizing stations are available throughout the studio.

  • Instructors are allotted 3–5 minutes between classes for cleaning. This may result in minor delays.

  • Please check your child’s temperature before arriving.

If your child is showing any symptoms (fever, cough, chills, congestion, diarrhea, loss of taste/smell, body aches, etc.), please keep them home.

Face masks are optional for students.

Tuition is based on a 36-week season and must be paid monthly.

  • Payments are due by the first class of each month.
